Vox Corda

October 1st, 2007 · No Comments

I had the distinct pleasure of running the merch table for a start-up professional orchestra named Vox Corda. (www.voxcorda.org) The concert featured Paraguayan Harpist, Nicholas Carter.

I was not able to hear the whole concert, but it was a very interesting premise. Carter performed several native Paraguayan pieces, followed by Classical orchestral pieces with similar themes in them. The audience was a very healthy mix of several different communities; the standard classical concert-going demographic, a sizeable Latino crowd, a few families and even some  college-agers. The audience was also quite a bit more engaged than one would typically expect in that setting. Very exciting and also academically interesting.

After speaking with Elizabeth Barnes, founder of Vox Corda and customer of Cult Status, about her organization’s mission, I am excited to see what will come in the future as well!

If you should happen to be in the Twin Cities area for the next show, check it out.
