Here’s a quick promotional heads-up…

The New Year has not yet come, but already it’s time to start thinking about the festival season. If they haven’t already started booking, many promoters and event planners are in the process of booking the big shows for 2008. Bear in mind that it takes time to book and wrangle the details in enough time to create, print, and distribute advertising. In this respect, that show that’s still 4-5 months away really isn’t that far away at all.

If you plan (or hope) to get booked or collaborate with any major or regional events this year, now is the time to get the lead out and pound the pavement.

This also means that if you are planning on touring this spring and summer and you can’t make it to the festivals, you should at least know how to avoid the festivals so you aren’t competing with them. It would probably be advisable to not plan any major shows within a couple weeks on either side of a major concert, or you may run the risk of trying to beg broke people to come to your event… that is… unless you do something for free (hint).
