The State of the Industry

This brief video speaks to a very important truth; namely, that the new mindset of the music consumer is that music is free… or at least should be. Whether you agree with this position, or you think that it’s a bunch of bratty people who feel entitled to steal, doesn’t change the fact that record sales are falling. It’s time to consider the advantages of opening up revenue streams by thinking of MULTIPLE ways to draw revenue from your art. Traditionally these mean either selling tickets, selling merchandise, or selling music. The saavy musician will also consider using advertising revenue/partnerships to increase their sales (or at least decrease extra costs).

Beyond this, it’s coming up with creative ways to do the same old thing. Get yourself out there and get paid for your music.
